Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV – Election Central
In the video SCTV – Election Central, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian brothers who can been seen in “Great White North”, a improv which was televised on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it moved to CBC Television in the eighties. Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is acted by Dave Thomas. It was made originally as a sketch to both satisfy and laugh at non sensical Canadian content guidelines, the duo turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the United States. The brothers soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Earl Camembert reminds me of Irv Weinstein ( dark hair, bow tie, glasses, voice) on WKBW tv news from Buffalo, whom some of us growing up in southern Ontario will recall from the seventies.
