In the video SCTV – FALCONS & OYSTERS with Bob Bond, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hysterical Canadian comedians who hosted “Great White North”, a improv which was featured on second city television for the show’s third season when it was broadcast on CBC Television in the 80’s. Bob McKenzie is acted by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as fluff to both please and makes jokes about non sensical Canadian content laws, the characters grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the US. The brothers later became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
FALCONS & OYSTERS: It’s said that Falcons steal pearls from oysters. With the help of host Bob Bond (Thomas) and the studio audience contestants (Flaherty, O’Hara) they clear up some myths about falcons and oysters.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
