In the video SCTV – FARM FILM CELEBRITY BLOW-UP (Bernadette Peters), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of made up Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a skit which was shown on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob’s part is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was born originally as a skit to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about network Canadian content policies, the characters morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The pair became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
