In the video SCTV Farm Film Celebrity Blow Up Second City TV Television John Candy, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a sketch which was shown on second city television for the show’s third season when it got sold to CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob’s character is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is played by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was developed originally as filler to both follow guidelines and mock legal Canadian content policies, the pair morphed into a pop culture success in both Canada and America. The McKenzie brothers went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
