In the video SCTV – Five Neat Guys! Joe Flaherty, John Candy, Dave Thomas, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian siblings who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it streamed by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite born originally as an idea to both please and mock dumb Canadian content laws, the characters transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and America. The McKenzie brothers became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
