In the video SCTV – Good-Bye America: Johnny LaRue, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of imaginaryfunny Canadian brothers who can been seen in “Great White North”, a show which was included on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it got sent to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is acted by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Although made originally as a sketch to both satisfy and laugh about silly Canadian content statutes, the pair transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The pair went on to become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Geraldo, visits a party at Johnny LaRue’s penthouse apartment. He brushes off Earl. Johnny shows him around. Bobby Bittman shows off Johnny’s charity awards; they persuade Bobby to do a bit. Geraldo then chats with Connie Franklin (who sings some of her new material from ‘Disco Connie’).
