Bob is brought to life by actor Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is performed by Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh at legal Canadian content policies, the duo turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The two soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
