Bob McKenzie is played by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about network Canadian content rules, the siblings transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and America. The pair went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
