In the video SCTV Harry’s Sex Shop, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hysterical Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a sketch which was introduced on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it streamed by CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. Although brought to life originally as a sketch to both fulfill and make fun of annoying Canadian content guidelines, the siblings turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the USA. The characters enetually would become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Don't know if was John himself or one of the writer's, but I'm sure they stole the "snake on the face" idea from Gary Simmons' mask of the California Golden Seals/Cleveland Barons fame..remember Canada and Canadians live by the pulse of our great game and the era of the full fiberglass mask was arguably the best the sport had to offer..
I worked briefly at AOV (Adults Only Video) in Oakville Canada. On my first shift running the store, a friend called me, not knowing we had caller ID. I answered "Thank you for calling Harry's Sex Shop. I'm Harry, the guy with the snake on his face. How can I help you?" I thought he was going to wet himself!!
