In the video SCTV – Henry Kissinger (Sammy Maudlin), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a segment which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it got sent to CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is played by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is performed by comic Dave Thomas. It was created originally as fluff to both satisfy and laugh at annoying Canadian content legislation, the characters transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the USA. The pair soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
