In the video SCTV – Johnny LaRue for City Council, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a show which was featured on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it braodcast by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s partThe character Bob is created by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Although created originally as fluff to both fulfill and makes jokes about dumb Canadian content rules, the pair transformed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Johnny makes his pitch for city council. And he denies that he’s gay. Paid for by the Sicilian Homophile Society.
