In the video SCTV – Johnny LaRue Street Beef Christmas Show, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of fictional Canadian siblings who created “Great White North”, a improv which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was broadcast on CBC Television in 1980. Bob McKenzie is acted by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as a sketch to both follow guidelines and mock legal Canadian content legislation, the two became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and America. The two enetually would become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
