In the video SCTV – Johnny LaRue – the birth of “Street Beef”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a program which was aired on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it was aired on CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as a skit to both please and laugh about stupid Canadian content laws, the characters became a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the USA. The pair enetually would become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
