In the video SCTV – Johnny LaRue’s “LUNCH TIME STREET BEEF”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of strange Canadian comedians who were featured in “Great White North”, a program which was streamed on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it was aired on CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob’s partThe character Bob is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Which was born originally as a skit to both satisfy and mock silly Canadian content guidelines, the characters morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The pair soon became the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
LUNCH TIME STREET BEEF: This is Johnny LaRue’s last chance at SCTV. Join Johnny as just himself and a camera talk to the average “man on the street” and get them to expose their beef to the public. No crane-shots used. Promise! You hear that Guy?
