Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV – K-Tel’s “Stairways to Heaven”

In the video SCTV – K-Tel’s “Stairways to Heaven”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of odd Canadian actors who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was shown on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it streamed by CBC Television in the 1980s. The character Bob McKenzie is brought to life by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as filler to both please and make fun of dumb Canadian content guidelines, the pair grew up to be a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
