Funny, but the real Leave it to Beaver spoofed itself too. At the dinner table Wally complains about Beaver's messiness: "You should see our room, it's a pigsty". Beaver: Oh, yeah? So why don't you get yourself a little pig? Wally: I don't need to, I have you!" In another episode Wally says to his parents he isn't speaking to Beaver. Dad wants to know why. Wally: Because he threw his dirty socks on my shirts. Dad: That's no reason not to talk to him. Wally: How would you like your shirts to smell like dirty feet?
Wow what a cast. I tend to forget how talented the sctv cast was as they lived a bit in the shadow of an overhyped SNL cast.
many things that I thought were great when I was 19 now seem very dated and lame to me. Tube socks, permed hair and heavy metal, for example. But not SCTV. It seems better than I remember it.
