In the video SCTV: Leave it to beaver & Pepi Longsocks | Australian Reacts | AussieTash, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of odd Canadian brothers who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most popular season when it got sent to CBC Television in . Bob’s character is created by Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a sketch to both follow guidelines and mock legal Canadian content legislation, the two transformed into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the USA. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

The Leave It To Beaver sketch is so dark. There's a piece missing where Eddie comes out of the closet to Wally.
Don't forget Joe Flaherty. I met him!
Thanks for covering this, brings back so many memories
About Pipi Longstockings. These are old shows from the past, and knowing the context makes these SCTV skit all the more hilarious. They were wholesome TV shows back then, and SCTV ripped them apart.
Have you ever seen the original "Leave it to Beaver" TV sitcom from the sixties? A wholesome show that will make this skit even more hilarious.
Eddie Haskell was shot in the first one, was played by Dave Thomas (Doug Mackenzie).
Pro wisky
Loved seeing clips I havent seen since they first aired. You gotta watch Andrea Martin as Edith Prickley at the channels headquarters – a recurring segment thats so zany. All her characters are great. Joe Flaherty had a short lived show called Maniac Mansion with a whole cast of wackos that was afterschool but definitely for adults.
You should check out some Kids in the Hall! Classic characters/sketches include (but are certainly not limited to) the guy with a cabbage for a head, "I'm crushing your head!", and of course the Chicken Lady, and absolute fashion icon.
As an older person I found this show to be even funnier than you might realize now because I well remember all of the shows that were parodied by them such as Leave it to Beaver. One of my favourite parodies was the Merv Griffith Show, a mashup parody of the Andy Griffith Show and the Merv Griffin talk show. There was also a sketch called Gill Fisher, The Fishin’ Musician which was a parody of the same show (The Red Fisher Show) that inspired The Red Green Show. Battle of the Network Stars and anything with The Schmenge Brothers are also my favourites. You might want to watch the Schmenge Brothers’ appearance on David Letterman where Levy and Candy stayed in character for the entire visit.
Joe Flararty is the name you are looking for. The other boy from the school is Dave Thomas.
WASTE of time skippy girl !!!!!!!!
Sorry, meant Dave Thomas.
The other SCTV alumnae not named was Davie Thomas, also of " Bob and Doug McKenzie" fame with Rick Moranis as the Iconic Canadian Hosers!
15:53 loved SCTV for years but have always thought their funniest sketches were John Candy and Eugene Levy as the Schmenge brothers and their Polka performances. Hope you take a look!
The father in both skits is played by Joe Flaherty. You should look up his Floyd Robertson and Count Floyd skits. There's also Big Jim McBob and Billy Saul Hurok.
You might want to look up the National Film Board's The Cat Came Back. It's a classic.
We always called it snapping beans.
I'm looking forward to more. Some of these have been awhile. Loved Rick Moranis as Neil Young.
Not my favorite skits
@Tash Let’s not forget Andrea Martin, the other woman in most of the skits. She plays Aunt Voula in all the Greek Wedding films.
