Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV – Mel’s Rock Pile Punk Rock Special – The Queen Haters

In the video SCTV – Mel’s Rock Pile Punk Rock Special – The Queen Haters, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hilarious Canadian comedians who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was streamed on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob McKenzie is created by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by comic Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a skit to both satisfy and laugh at legal Canadian content statutes, the duo transformed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and across the border. The two went on to become the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
