Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV – Melvin and Howards

In the video SCTV – Melvin and Howards, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hilarious Canadian brothers who created “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was shown on SCTV for the show’s third season when it got sent to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in 1980. Bob’s character is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by actor Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was born originally as fluff to both please and mock silly Canadian content demands, the characters turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the States. The pair soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
