In the video SCTV | Movie Of the Week – Power Play, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hilarious Canadian comedians who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was shown on second city television for the show’s most popular season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. The character Bob McKenzie is brought to life by Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is acted by comic Dave Thomas. Despite brought to life originally as a skit to both fulfill and mock network Canadian content rules, the siblings turned into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the US. The characters soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
