Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV Mr. Science with Johnny LaRue
In the video SCTV Mr. Science with Johnny LaRue, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of strange Canadian family members who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was included on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s character is played by actor Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is created by comic Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as filler to both satisfy and mock annoying Canadian content laws, the pair turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and America. The brothers later became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Mr. Science teaches his lab assistant Damien what happens when someone drinks acid.

2:09, child abuse! Nowadays, that’s unacceptable!
The video quality of this clip is amazing!
You could definitely not do THAT skit anymore on tv. Drinking acid, poking needles into a socket, pounding a child's backside. I miss the good old days We Had It Made.
Mark Polley as Damien.
What is this kid a kid from village of the damned?????
SCTV deserves more of the credit SNL gets. Just look at how many of the Not Ready For Prime Time players and other cast members since came from Second City.
Always eat your Finnians Rainbow Meats!
One of their very best. Silly humor about horrible behavior is especially great when performed by John Candy.
He kinda looks like that guy that played doc oc in that old spiderman movie
I don't have any acid, either.
I miss John and all his wonderful characters! We don't laugh anymore like we did when SCTV was on., I miss the days when we could laugh at silly things on tv and no one would get offended.
Today we have less science, more correct views, like the fifties. Tight little minds in a fart box
"I don't have any acid, there might be a joint in here" LMFAO
Acid.. I might have a joint.
people dont realize how consistent this show was versus SNL at the time
i dare anyone to watch a full episode of snl from the early seasons, theyre really not very good as a whole.
but sctv was such a great well rounded multi-layered show that its too bad it doesnt get more credit
"I don't have any acid, I may have a joint in here". lmfao
wow, that was dark
HAHAHAHA….one of the best
OOOHHHH, that's good.
OMG!—The kid from the village of the damned!
He bears a striking resemblance to Kathleen O'Hara. Catherine, i mean. Damien made me misspell it.
