Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV Night School High Q | REACTION
In the video SCTV Night School High Q | REACTION, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of hysterical Canadian brothers who can been seen in “Great White North”, a sketch which was aired on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was featured on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. Bob is played by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by comic Dave Thomas. The sketch was created originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about dumb Canadian content rules, the brothers turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the US. The McKenzie siblings later became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

FAR BETTER THAN SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!
Brilliant nuts
One funniest sctv skits was ..battle of the PBS stars …Julia Childs boxes Mr Rodgers announced by Howard Costello
SCTV is freakin' HEE-LARIOUS!! I grew up on that show, and go back to it frequently. You can't really go wrong with ALL THAT talent in one place!
The SCTV logo and sound brought back old memories.
Thanks
THAT KIND OF HUMOUR IS SO NOT FUNNY AND BORING AND I'M CANADIAN …AND ALMOST 60….SO I WAS PRIME FOR SCTV !!!!….SOME OF THESE GUYS MADE IT BIG IN HOLLYWOOD, LIKE JOHN CANDY, RICK MORANIS, EUGENE LEVY, MARTIN SHORT ,CATHARINE O'HARA, and HAROLD RAMIS…..NOT MY KIND OF HUMOUR THOUGH !!!!…SOME SCTV SKITS ARE FUNNY, BUT THERE IS A LOT OF DUMB CANADIAN STUFF, KINDA LIKE BOB AND DOUG McKENZIE SKITS…..YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN !!!….JOHN CANDY IS CANADIAN….MOST OF THEM ARE !!!
About time. When are you going to catch Count Floyd with Johnny Lerue, eh?
You should have recognized the host from Rush "The Weapon" live, and he's on the R40 tour.
That blowed up real good !
SCTV slightly before my time, but I loved this! A mash up of the old Hollywood Squares and the common high school honors tv quiz game. Each panelist had their niche of nuttiness. Love that the host was losing his temper.
Joe Flaherty was also the dad in Freaks and Geeks, and The Weapon intro for RUSH
Dave Thomas, was Boris Badenov from Boris and Natasha: The Movie (1992)
There’s an episode where they do a commercial offering a musical album with various musical artists singing Stairway to heaven. I laughed so hard when they got to Pavarotti. LoL!
OMG I can’t believe you’re reacting to one of my favourite funny shows of the 70s and 80s, use to watch this and SNL , so many great memories, Bobby Bittma. LOL!
The guy in the bottom left is Dave Thomas who played Doug McKenzie.
Justin, I'm 65 and SCTV is right in my wheelhouse…funniest show EVER!!! Checkout Half Wits as well…Most comedians you grew up with came from SCTV…"ie. John Candy and Bill Murry"….You had to watch every episode because there was a flow to the show, like a funny soap opera.
And that's where I learned Willy did a cover of a Duke Ellington song.
More of a Kids in the Hall fan myself
Its been a few minutes since this was on TV. I enjoyed as much as SNL.
Holy shit, seriously? This is an absolute classic. What made SCTV so great was that the humor didn't seem forced. It was nuanced and wacky at the same time.
When are you starting Rush again ?
I used to watch some SCTV back in the day. This was not one of their better sketches imo.
PRICELESS
It’s like asking my kids questions and getting their sarcastic responses. Thankfully only happens every few hours.
I used to watch this show all the time. It was hilarious! The Perry Como still alive episode was too funny!
Host was Eugene Levy playing a version of Alex Trebek called Alex Trebel. You may have seen him in the American Pie movies or more recently the hilarious Schitt's Creek also with Catherine O'hara (from Home Alone). Funny skit but a better similar game show skit (with Alex Trebel) called Half Wits is funnier IMO. I think there are a couple of these.
25 points for Justin for getting the song.
It was ok. I've seen better SCTV segments. They had a great cast.
Should have checked out "Perry Como, still alive" sketch.
