In the video SCTV – PET PEEVES OF THE STARS – Bob Hope, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of strange Canadian siblings who were featured in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was featured on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob’s part is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously brought to life originally as filler to both please and laugh at legal Canadian content demands, the siblings morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and across the border. The characters soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
