In the video SCTV Reunion After Party | 2008 Toronto, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of imaginaryfunny Canadian siblings who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was broadcast on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it aired by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is created by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is created by actor Dave Thomas. The sketch was born originally as filler to both satisfy and laugh about dumb Canadian content statutes, the duo turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and America. The characters soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Here’s a short glimpse of the photoshoot portion of the SCTV afterparty, held immediately following the reunion performance at Second City Toronto on May 5, 2008. The cast mingled with the audience for drinks in the adjacent Wayne Gretzky’s restaurant. After a while, they were brought together for a few photos. My camera went up and grabbed this minute of everyone posing.
You can hear Catherine call for Eugene Levy, who did perform, but for some reason, did not make an appearance at the party. First they pose with Andrew Alexander (SCTV executive producer) and then with Juul Haalmeyer (costumes and supporting actor). An amazing night.

I think I'm more butt-hurt about missing this than all those Who concerts I never attended. Look at how stunningly beautiful my love bug looks. To snuggle into him would be like dying and going to Heaven. Of course I once said that about meeting my sweet babboo, which I eventually did.

They all look great. Andrea looks like she's full of bubbly energy (she was quite a cutie when she wasn't dressed as Edith Prickley). Too bad Eugene and Robin Duke weren't there. (Although I heard her on a DVD commentary with Joe Flaherty just recently–one of the Best of SCTV volumes.)
