Martin slays as always…how are ya???
Andrea Martin was so overlooked, but incredibly fabulous
Smells like Goalmer’s Pyle of crap
Sammy Maudlin is 100% Pure Talent ! I'd like to second Sammy's perceptive observation that Bobby Bittman really laid a Stinker with tonight's performance. I Love Bobby, I really do, but he just doesn't have it together like Lola Heatherton does every night.
in History of TV (apparently) they where a parody of Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon? NBC the Sammy Maudlin show…a spiff on tv on tv ON SCTV wow how ORIGINAL can you GET!!! wow
Andrea Martin: 1000's of personalities and She nails it just astonishing talent…:)
Never will forget the 1st time I turned on SCTV (at random): "What the unmitigated […..] is this I'm watching? Is my set picking up a parallel universe?" They got me good.
Lorne Michaels ripped off half the people for SNL from SCTV.
JUST GIVE ME A KEY!!!!!!
I remember watching this live and recall Carson was not happy afterwards . NBC had just recently done a Tonight Show anniversary special, so SCTV couldn’t resist doing this Maudlin skit. Carson, who I love, took it personally. I never thought the Maudlin Show was a spoof of the Tonight Show, but they clearly borrowed and twisted some of it’s elements like William B/Ed McMahon. It was more reminiscent of the Sammy Davis Jr show and rat pack celebrities. The whole thing was like an alternative universe where vain low talent celebrities sucked up to one another and shamelessly self promoted. The bit worked really well.
Love all those Back handed Compliments! and some of the names when the credits rolls are NFL players…Jack Ham, Jimbo Colvert, Lester Hayes
She sings and dances and sings
William B. Why do you work with a bum like Sammy?
What's Brian May doing on this?
I always watched SCTV back in the 80s. It's still great today. The entire cast was super talented.
It is truly a criminal offense that the entire series was never put to DVD
It’s really refreshing to see such sincere love and respect between these celebrities. Too often celebrities are such phonies! Right?
Poor William B.
I was a huge Willy B fan. I think the show owed a lot of its success to him. I prefer to remember the Willy B of these years and not the last several before his death when he became romantically involved with the father from Alf. I will never forgive The National Enquirer for publishing those pictures of them engaging in gay sex acts with crackheads while getting high
The first clip? A play on the "Ed Ames throwing a hacket" on a 60s Carson show. Very clever. Everything SCTV did was clever.
One of the best Episodes of SCTV lol When I was a kid I remember laughing through the whole thing lol
Better than Colbert.
You know, and I think that I can speak for everyone, and I say this with complete sincerity, Sammy Maudlin is the Greatest… He really is.
my favorite part of SCTV was The Sammy Maudlin Show,
Willie B is the heart of the Maudlin show! YOU DON'T FOOL WITH A COMBINATION LIKE THAT!!!
