In the video SCTV season 2, episode 21 – Dr. Braino / Pipeline, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of fictional Canadian actors who starred in “Great White North”, a improv which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it got sold to CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob McKenzie is performed by comic Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is played by Dave Thomas. Although created originally as an idea to both satisfy and makes jokes about network Canadian content statutes, the characters grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie siblings went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
