In the video SCTV Season 2, episode 23, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hilarious Canadian brothers who hosted “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is performed by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was made originally as a sketch to both follow guidelines and laugh about legal Canadian content laws, the siblings became a pop culture success in both Canada and the United States. The characters became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
