In the video SCTV Season 3, ep. 3 – Death of a Salesman, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of hysterical Canadian brothers who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was streamed on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was aired on CBC Television in the 1980s. The character Bob McKenzie is created by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is played by Dave Thomas. The sketch was born originally as fluff to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about non sensical Canadian content demands, the duo morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The brothers went on to become the focus of a bestselling comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Earl sitting motionless for 2 minutes waiting for the film or tape of the bus races to come on, appeared to be a parody of the time L.A. news anchor John Schubeck, near the end of one late night newscast, after seeing an item he'd read 10 minutes earlier, just sat there, not saying a word, for the remaining two minutes the program was on that night.
Would've been even better if Tony R. had been on the show from its start. Just my opinion.
