Really SCTV wasn't really the same without Catherine O'Hara, John Candy, Rick Moranis, or Dave Thomas.
The show had almost ran its course by then, but still had a lot of funny bits during that season. The "Happy Hour" show (Basically "Captain Kangaroo" in a bar) was a welcome addition. It was obvious that this season was going to be the last. But I found it actually funnier than SNL Season 5, when that show lost Dan and John, and most of its energy.
Yeah, the cast had shrunk, but it was still great and there was a lot of classic stuff that season…I especially loved "Happy Hour"
they really jumped the shark
Agreed but still what a sad opening..I mean 4 players?!
Pretty sure they added a couple others that weren't credited, but appeared throughout the season. This kind of reminds me of the start of SNL's 5th season, before they started padding the shrinking cast with loads of featured players…. there were only five castmembers.
Wow only 4 of them left?
I was 1 when this came out! yay!
