In the video SCTV Sneak Previews – Star Wars: Empires are a Girl’s Best Friend, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian family members who were featured in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was aired on second city television for the show’s third season when it braodcast by CBC Television in the 1980s. The character Bob McKenzie is performed by actor Rick Moranis and Doug is performed by Dave Thomas. The bit was created originally as a joke to both fulfill and laugh at silly Canadian content policies, the duo transformed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the States. The pair enetually would become the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
