In the video SCTV – SORE LOSERS! – (Thursday at 9), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of odd Canadian comedians who created “Great White North”, a skit which was aired on second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s character is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. Regardless the fact it was created originally as fluff to both satisfy and laugh about dumb Canadian content rules, the duo became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The pair soon became the focus of a classic comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
SORE LOSERS: The unprepared young lawyer pushes a bit too hard in this nail biting courtroom drama.
Also known as Second City TV (1976–1981) – SCTV Network 90 (1981–1983) – SCTV Channel (1983–1984). This classic Canadian sketch comedy launched many careers and went mostly un-noticed by US audiences save for a brief stint on NBC.
