Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV statue takes off, eh?

In the video SCTV statue takes off, eh?, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of fictional Canadian family members who were featured in “Great White North”, a segment which was streamed on SCTV for the show’s most liked season when it was featured on CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is played by actor Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is brought to life by Dave Thomas. Although developed originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about legal Canadian content statutes, the siblings morphed into a pop culture success in both Canada and America. The two enetually would become the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
