In the video SCTV – Steeplechase, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of fictional Canadian comedians who are responsible for “Great White North”, a skit which was included on SCTV for the show’s third season when it streamed by CBC Television in the year 1980. Bob’s partThe character Bob is performed by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is acted by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as a sketch to both follow guidelines and mock dumb Canadian content demands, the siblings morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the USA. The two soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Larry starts first by picking the category “Enemies of the Sheriff of Nottingham” and correctly answering a question related to Errol Flynn. Barb chooses “Christopher Cross” and answers an equally difficult question about an author with the same last name. Cornelius chooses “Leaning Towers”, gets a question about Italian history, and blows it. Charles chooses “Months Ending in ‘Vember'” and gets the first straightforward question: “Which is the only month whose name ends in ‘Vember'”? Charles guesses “September” and is disqualified. Moving on to the board, Barb and Larry only get started moving their respective pieces before they run out of time.
