Bob is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by comic Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a sketch to both satisfy and makes jokes about network Canadian content rules, the brothers morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the United States. The characters enetually would become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

  • This one, single, skit poking fun at Tammy Faye Bakker, was the only time it was ever funny. SCTV nailed it. SNL & others tried endlessly with their Tammy Faye Bakker gags but failed. I love how Tammy's voice cracks like someone who has just gotten spanked but is trying to keep from crying.

  • And Tammy Faye got the biggest laugh of all. She LOVED those skits lampooning her. RIP, Tammy Faye.

  • Just watched the ABC documentary on the Bakkers and had to look this up. Catherine O'Hara is a genius.
    I had one of those t-shirts with makeup splashed on it that said "I ran into Tammy Faye at the Mall".
    Good times...... good times.
