“It’s a dark day in Mr Roger’s neighborhood”
I absolutely hated Dick Cavett’s voice. This is funny.
The talent on this show is still unmatched
The unspoken high point of this skit is that Mr. Rogers would cheat in order to win.
One more sketch that shows how SCTV was better than SNL, even if it didn't get as much exposure.
back in High School days we would nearly VOMIT with laughter…this JEWEL came from CANADA like a non stop thespian tv parallel universe…You had to SEE it experience it to explain it fails…holy CRAP 100,000% genius..never ending GO Canada GO SCTV
Dick Cavett and Howard Cossel…holy crap wow very unique, amazing brilliant astonishing talent 10,000 %
Fred Rogers used King Friday to knockout his opponent lol!
The fact that they embellished it with Speedy Delivery and King Friday is what makes it so great!
"He beat the woman unconscious with a puppet."
Oh, a simpler time. I wish i could go back. What a great time to be young.
The way Fred Rogers came out and floored Julia Childs had me in absolute tears laughing.
This show and kids in the hall are incredible. Made me laugh more than snl.
As soon as I heard Julia Child’s name mentioned, I knew in my bones that we were seconds from John Candy in drag.
That look from Martin Short when he is gloving up as Rogers is priceless…..
I was raised by these guys, nobody gets me now.
SCTV rocks . Yes I always agreed they were so much more hilarious than SNL. SNL could never match SCTV. God Love them!
Came to support my man Martin short
"I don't have to explain. You saw it. He beat the woman unconscious with a puppet." That line from Levy as Howard Cosell was just the cherry on top for this skit. Just hilarious.
I would've paid big money to see that fight….if it was the real deal.
Back when comedy used to be funny, unlike today’s egregious late night shows and the repugnant SNL.
lovable characters all around
Pummelling Julia with King Friday should have gotten Fred evicted from Mr. Rodgers neighborhood
Dave’s Carl Sagan is pretty impressive, actually.
Eugene Levy turning up the volume is classic Cosell "this is a TREMENDOUS FIGHT!"
I remember watching this as a kid in Chicago on a Saturday night laughing like crazy.
The puppet celebrating in the corner is hilarious.
Celebrity Death Match “Inception” moment!
Fred Rogers equals Martin Short, Morton Downey jr and Jerry Orbach
Reminiscent of Mike Tyson's Punchout's King Hippo

Freaking loved this one! SCTV was always my favorite and this skit is one of the best!❤❤❤
SCTV was brilliant.
Back when Canadians and people in general just had fun.
The turkey baster lol lol lol!
Is that Martin Short?
Holy shit they were basting Julia child in the corner. My stomach hurts from laughing this hard.
So brilliant. I miss shows like this.
as a GenXer i can now say with certainty that zoomers do not have a lock on the worst sense of humor ever…
Hmmmmmmm
The only thing wrong with this sketch is that it was never a real thing.
