In the video SCTV – The Driftwood Inn, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of imaginaryfunny Canadian family members who were featured in “Great White North”, a sketch which was aired on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it got sent to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is played by hilarious comedian Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is played by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as a skit to both fulfill and laugh about annoying Canadian content legislation, the siblings grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the United States. The two became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.

Looks like the motels we used to stay at on our annual summer trips to Pennsylvania. Especially the pool.
One of the best bits is, early in the episode, a commericial announces the owner's of the driftwood are going on vacation and it will be closed for the holidays. Later, a commercial by their son announces the Driftwood;s New Year's Eve Rock'n'Roll Party. Lastly, there is a commercial to let patrons know the Drfitwood will be closed for 3 months after the New Year's riot and fire!

"You can't miss it!" Especially since it's been a local eyesore for 27 years! How I miss comedy like this! I remember places like this. They were just so depressing, which this skit so accurately captures. Brilliant.

Gotta love those faded, flash-bulb polaroids taken by someone who has obviously never seen a camera before! They enhance the ugliness of ugly-looking things! Actually very spot-on for what local ads often looked like.
