Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV The Godfather

In the video SCTV The Godfather, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of made up Canadian brothers who are responsible for “Great White North”, a improv which was shown on second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was aired on CBC Television in the eighties. The character Bob McKenzie is acted by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. It was created originally as filler to both fulfill and laugh about annoying Canadian content rules, the duo turned into a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and across the border. The McKenzie siblings soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
