Back in the days when women in the police force weren’t about being lesbian, but being able to make and distribute coffee.
John Candy + Joe Flaherty will always have me on the floor!
I’m just glad the jaundice which plagued those days is gone.
I love how the SCTV characters always had pompadour hair!
i love the "its the credits" look lol
loved this guy so much
I came to read the fascinating, original, compelling "SCTV is better than SNL" comments. I agree that SCTV is the best comedy ever made. But c'mon, SNL is a different beast anyway. The two shows also pulled from the same pool of talent and have a shared history. As someone who has watched SNL, off and on, since 1975 I can assure the haters that Lorne Michaels has allowed the mocking of all comers, hell, even Sarah Palin hosted after being parodied. The subtext is clear, these art critics don't like Trump mocked. These are the same people who don't want politics in their (fill-in-the-blank). The dumbest take has got to be not wanting politics in comedy, or punk… or music… or any human endeavor. It shows they haven't been paying attention to anything for a very long time. If it weren't for Canadians, the US wouldn't be as funny. If that 1972 Toronto production of Godspell hadn't happened…
Turk was competing with Hill Street Blues in those days and losing.
Nice car. SCTV was great.
Wait, was this predicting the absurdity of Fox's 911?
This small snippet is better than all the late night shows.
One of the funniest, most lovable guys in the business.
The best was John Candy as the Beaver in Leave It To Beaver.
In what world was this considered comedy?
You know, I hate to say this, but … some of these comments are actually funny … !
Turk was best of breed. Made Mel Gibson, Dennis Franz, Dennis Farina and Mark Harmon look like look like milquetoast losers.
Well….not ALL of their skits were gems. But still kinda funny,
That was my favorite police tv show growing up. The best episode was when Turk slipped by the water cooler while carrying all that paper.
Candy was a weird one… I was always caught between loving him and hating him. But somehow he always made me laugh.
I'll be tuning in! Lol
I really liked SCTV back in the day. The sorta kinda but not really spinoff "Strange Brew" was one of my favorites as a kid.
what was this from/ im 38 and loved him as a kid
Yeah baby, when Canadian TV was a viable contender against SNL. SCTV ruled and John Candy was the King.
WOW CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BAD COMEDY SUCKED BACK THEN
I'd watch that show!
Now I'm smiling, damn I loved this show !
Turk february
Remember the one where Turk sent a plumber to the pregnant ladies house because she said her water broke? Classic Turk.
RIP John.
Omg, I just realized this is the inspiration for Farva in super troopers! How could I have forgotten about turk?!? Glad this video was put out.
Candy was too busy being Johnny Toronto to come up with any ideas for the show. He just told the writers to come up with crap like this. Pretty shameful really. Terrible sketch but still, Joe made me laugh.
As a former dispatcher, a lot of this checks out
0:53 look at 0:53 and tell me, is that Jan Smithers [Bailey Quarters] from 'WKRP In Cincinnati'?
I've never been interested in actual police work, it's police dispatching that's always been fascinating to me.
