Bob and Doug McKenzie in SCTV Vol 1 Disc 5 – Meeting a couple of fellow hosers

In the video SCTV Vol 1 Disc 5 – Meeting a couple of fellow hosers, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hysterical Canadian family members who are responsible for “Great White North”, a program which was introduced on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it got sold to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 80’s. Bob McKenzie is created by the funny Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by Dave Thomas. The sketch was brought to life originally as a joke to both satisfy and mock annoying Canadian content policies, the duo morphed into a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The pair later became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
