In the video SCTV’s Fantasy Island! Pt. 1 Best Skit Ever!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of strange Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a program which was featured on SCTV for the show’s most popular season when it aired by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the 1980s. Bob McKenzie is played by actor Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. The sketch was developed originally as filler to both please and makes jokes about network Canadian content statutes, the siblings morphed into a pop culture hit in both Canada and America. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
