In the video Skid Row (Downtown) – Little Shop of Horrors (1986), Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of imaginaryfunny Canadian family members who starred in “Great White North”, a improv which was introduced on second city television for the show’s third season when it streamed by CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. Despite developed originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and laugh about non sensical Canadian content rules, the characters morphed into a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. The brothers soon became the focus of a huge comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
