In the video SPACEBALLS.. MEL BROOKS… JOHN CANDY… RICK MORANIS.. CLASSIC COMEDY… DVD…, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of odd Canadian siblings who starred in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was aired on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob’s character is created by comedian Rick Moranis and the character Doug is brought to life by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was brought to life originally as a sketch to both please and make fun of stupid Canadian content guidelines, the brothers grew up to be a pop culture success in both Canada and the States. The brothers soon became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
