In the video Strange Brew (1983), Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of hysterical Canadian brothers who hosted “Great White North”, a show which was aired on SCTV for the show’s 3rd season when it was aired on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in in the early 80s. Bob’s partThe character Bob is created by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is performed by the comedian Dave Thomas. Despite made originally as a skit to both please and mock dumb Canadian content guidelines, the two turned into a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the United States. The pair enetually would become the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
