In the video Strange Brew (1983) Movie Review, Bob and Doug McKenzie are two of made up Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a sketch which was streamed on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was broadcast on CBC Television in the 1980s. Bob’s part is played by comic Rick Moranis and Doug’s part is brought to life by Dave Thomas. Although developed originally as filler to both fulfill and make fun of non sensical Canadian content guidelines, the brothers grew up to be a pop culture sensation in both Canada and the US. The characters later became the focus of a an amazing comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
In Strange Brew, something is rotten at the Elsinore Brewery. Bob and Doug Mackenzie help the daughter of the brewery founder, Pam, regain control of it after her father mysteriously dies. However, they must first go through a sinister brew master and two teams of vicious hockey players under his control.
