Bob and Doug McKenzie in Strange Brew 1983 “no point in steering Now”
In the video Strange Brew 1983 “no point in steering Now”, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of strange Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a skit which was included on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most liked season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob’s partThe character Bob is performed by comic Rick Moranis and the character Doug is played by actor Dave Thomas. The bit was born originally as an idea to both follow guidelines and makes jokes about legal Canadian content policies, the duo grew up to be a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the United States. This crazy movie makes me think that we often try to give up to soon.

The parking brake never worked ? Sounds like my mom's old car .
I love Thier reactions before they hit the water.
Liberty mutual insurance ripped the boys off bad!
It was at Regency theater in Racine. We exited this movie and a news crew from Chicago(?) caught us and asked us our reaction to the movie. We had to scramble up a tin foil antennae real quick and only able to get a grainy / scrambly replay on tv later. I wish I could find if it existed to see my 15 yr old self again.
This movie could have been the beginning of a really great franchise, even if just for us Canadians.
is that 'JASON' 1:27
This movie like Pee Wees Big Adventure are kind of ignored because they are low budget but the stories and the jokes are really solid
Damn!
someone called me a hozer today…and i was flooded with memories of this movie
One of my favorite lines from the movie. I can't tell you how many times through the years I've told my passengers the breaks have gone out and used that same line as I resignedly fold my arms. Gets a great reaction every time.
I love how you see the CN Tower in the background and the van went into the water
F##ing classic
How high was that van?
No looking at the road and turning the wheel like they are driving the curviest road tropes.
If i see another skip the dishes ad with that annoying guy ima lose it
Best part is the next underwater shots. Damn, I love that film !
Doug: No point in sterring now.
Bob: TAKE OFF!! YOU STEER THIS THING!!!!!.
What we noticed underneath the van their brakes are shot
The 6 who did thumbs down are hosers
And now it’s a Gif
Yeah, I'm always shouting "Eyes on the road!" when the driver turns to look at their passenger for 5 seconds or more.
One of the deepest scenes in any movie that is about two drunken Canadians…Of course, the movie is a derivation of Hamlet, but still a completely underrated movie and scene.
You cut out what happens next, the part where they're breathing from their empty bottles!
That would be cool being in that vehicle when it is airborne ehh!!
3:13 "I've always loved you."
Rutt and Tuke in human forms!(if you catch my drift!)
At 3:05 a keg clearly exits the van through the rear doors, but when you see bob and doug driving afterward, the doors are seald
Wow, not many tall buildings in Toronto back then.
Love the beautiful overcast Toronto skies. It's like that from November to April
"Take off, the parking brake never worked!"
That can be said about pretty much all of my cars.
My high school chemistry teacher used this scene as an analogy for finals week.
NOW DATS CANADIAN EH?…STILL WAITIN…40 YRS NOW,,4 A PRT 2 2 STRANGE BREW! COO COO COO COO COO COO COO!
I still say that in my everyday life when something seems futile.
lmfao
This movie was on HBO like a thousand million times
Cool van, eh? Like, it's a pity they had to trash it for the movie, you know?
Now THAT is the attitude of somebody who has absolutely No fear of ANYTHING.
This movie makes me think that the TV show 'Bones' isn't something I should be be embarrassed to say that I watch.
Take off!
ReedSolomon Besides, if you do that, "you're a bloody idiot", as the Australians say.
Hoset haha
Hoset haha
0:51 What are you doing? Ah, just testing the brakes ehh, they felt a little soft. lol 🙂
Lmao camera in the van shows back doors closed. camera outside shows them open.
