Bob and Doug McKenzie in Strange Brew – courtroom

In the video Strange Brew – courtroom, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of made up Canadian comedians who were featured in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was introduced on SCTV – second city television for the show’s 3rd season when it was broadcast on the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob is performed by Rick Moranis and the character Doug is created by the comedian Dave Thomas. It was created originally as an idea to both satisfy and mock non sensical Canadian content statutes, the two grew up to be a pop culture smash hit in both Canada and the States. The McKenzie brothers soon became the focus of a hit comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
