In the video Strange Brew: craft beer gets creative, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a couple of fictional Canadian actors who hosted “Great White North”, a program which was televised on SCTV – second city television for the show’s most watched season when it braodcast by CBC Television in in the early 80s. Bob’s part is played by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug’s character is acted by Dave Thomas. Although created originally as a sketch to both fulfill and makes jokes about stupid Canadian content statutes, the siblings turned into a pop culture success in both Canada and the US. The brothers went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
In an effort to compete in a 30 billion dollar craft beer market, thousands of US breweries are coming up with new, innovative and sometimes weird recipes. (May 29)
