Bob and Doug McKenzie in Strange Brew – Cream | College Students’ FIRST TIME REACTION!
In the video Strange Brew – Cream | College Students’ FIRST TIME REACTION!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of hilarious Canadian family members who created “Great White North”, a sketch which was shown on second city television for the show’s most watched season when it braodcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in the year 1980. Bob McKenzie is brought to life by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug McKenzie’s part is acted by actor Dave Thomas. Despite created originally as a sketch to both satisfy and make fun of dumb Canadian content rules, the duo turned into a pop culture hit in both Canada and the US. The pair soon became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
Hope you guys enjoyed the video!

Guitar…hell whole 3 piece band, hells yeah!
Clapton would not sing until later in his career. He had to be talked into it.
Strange Brew was based on an old blues standard, "Lawdy Mama". In fact there is a version of one of the Live Cream albums (#1 I think) released in the US that had Lawdy Mama as one of the tracks. The UK version did not have that.
Jack Bruce played a 6 string base so they had more options.
The syncopation is so great on this! Bruce's bass rhythm seems to be following Baker's bass pedal. Not in the middle, where Bruce keeps up the same idea but Baker does something else more straight time, and they don't come together again. These seems like an unleashing of control to find something something else but with respect for what had launched it.
Clapton was hanging out with Harrison during this period (that influence maybe most noticeable in "Badge," but I'm sure the melody is Bruce's, not Clapton's.
Wonderful Clapton Ruth’s and lead. Every note counts with no waste…
lotta those guitar players worked for beatles….jeff beck and clapton….
You need to review “A Girl Like You” by the Smithereens.
Such a tune
Jack Bruce is the bass player and is also the lead singer in most of cream's songs. Eric was really shy about his singing voice back then although he does sing on some songs.
For me Clapton is the 3rd best at his craft in this band… & I Love me some Clapton.
Cream just had such a unique sound. Great car cruising music. Both windows down on a cool summer night with your friends.
it boggles my mind you haven't heard more of these classics. I'm here for it though.
Cream were a British rock band formed in London in 1966. The group consisted of bassist Jack … Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), Brian May (Queen), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Eric Clapton. Not all at the same time !
That last chord; 5th string A, open, 4th string D, 7th fret (A), 3rd string G, 6th fret (C#), 2nd string B, open, 1st string E, open. The last note of the riff is a C natural, 3rd string G, 5th fret.
You guys should check out the new Ozzy album. Got both Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck!
It was a huge radio hit.
A 3 piece band if you can believe it….PLEASE PLAY "CROSSROADS" BY Eric Clapton
I rarely if ever make negative comments on any music and this is not meant to be negative. This is a great song but I don't like the way it is mixed. I wonder if this song has been remastered? I'm not an audio engineer but it seems to me that this song could be improved immensely with some minor tweaks. Maybe this is exactly what Clapton and company were aiming for.
the classic "Badge" is a must hear, written by Clapton, Harrison (and a line by Ringo), with George on rhythm guitar … ear candy and a nice Clapton solo … George helped as it was for the last album (Goodbye) and Eric needed a song … and Eric read "bridge" as "badge", hence the title
Another random plea for consideration of Jack Bruce's solo goods, especially Songs for a Tailor LP – his own version of Theme from an Imaginary Western (cover by Mountain[West] v. well known), Rope Ladder to the Moon, and a couple o' raucous tunes to open and close: Never Tell Your Mother She's Out of Tune, and The Clearout
Too bad. At first clance I thought you were going to react to Bob and Doug McKenzie's Strange Brew….THAT would have made an awesome video.
My favorite Cream song.
"Thought you were going to go A+" "No" "Glad" why yes, Glad by Cream might just be an A+ for you 🙂
Along the same vein; try Traffic's MEDICATED GOO, LIGHT UP OR LEAVE ME ALONE, GLAD and ROCK 'N ROLL STEW.
Tales of Brave Ulysses. Unbelievable!
The height of psychedelic music! And of course in response to your comment about the Beatles vibes there is that big friendship between George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
Well Dragula by Rob Zombie the video is a must!!
Pretty much Clapton starting to find his singing voice and playing exactly like Albert King. You can't lose.
You guys have to hit cross roads live!
