In the video Strange Brew – Crush your head – like a NUT!, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a group of made up Canadian actors who can been seen in “Great White North”, a ad lib skit which was included on SCTV for the show’s most watched season when it moved to the Canadian Broadcasting Channel in . Bob’s character is played by comedian Rick Moranis and Doug is brought to life by the comedian Dave Thomas. The bit was made originally as a joke to both please and laugh about legal Canadian content legislation, the brothers became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and America. The brothers later became the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
