In the video Strange Brew, Bob and Doug McKenzie are a duo of fictional Canadian siblings who can been seen in “Great White North”, a segment which was featured on SCTV – second city television for the show’s third season when it was featured on CBC Television in the eighties. Bob’s character is created by the funny Rick Moranis and Doug is played by the comedian Dave Thomas. Even thoughFamously brought to life originally as filler to both fulfill and make fun of stupid Canadian content demands, the two became a pop culture phenomenon in both Canada and the USA. The characters went on to become the focus of a famous comedy album, The Great White North, in 1981.
SCTV alum Rick Moranis (“The Little Shop of Horrors,” “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”) and Dave Thomas portray the classic Canadian beer-guzzling duo, the MacKenzie Brothers, as they try to stop a mad beer brewer from gaining control of the world. Co-starring Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee Max von Sydow (“The Exorcist”) and Paul Dooley (“Breaking Away,” “Runaway Bride”). Author, author! About time for another movie with our two hero drunkards, plus Hosehead's off-spring, he gave the finest performance of a dog ever.
This is one of the greatest comedy movies ever made. I don't know if it makes top ten, but it certainly makes top five underrated. Laughs & cinema.
